Pip (Altaya Sandpiper) Judge
2007
Northern Saluki Club Open 2007:First Minor Puppy DogPamela Hargreaves*
critique: Just 6 months old cream. Very much the baby with a lot of growing to do. Really lovely shape, good front assembly and quarters. Everything is there ready to develop into a balanced dog. For the short amount of time that he settled he moved well. * winner of our 'most consistent judge 2007/2009' competition: see SGHC Open 2009 below
Birmingham National Champ. show 2007:2nd Minor Puppy Dog Anne McIntosh critique: Another nice fawn with good confirmation. Thicker coat than his brother. Very happy chap who was having a whale of a time. Again when I could see his movement it was sound. Derbyshire Open 2007:BOB; BP(he was the only saluki at the show!) Andrew Sharp
Newmarket Open 2007:2nd Yearling; BPIB Dennis McMillan
Leeds 2007:First Puppy Dog, 2nd Junior Dog, BP Graham Hill critique: 9 m.o. fawn very promising well made quality male. I liked his clean graceful lines and balanced profile, true parallel front of good width and pleasing bone development.Typy in head and expression. Neck of good length. Body of the make and shape I like and he has firm adequately angled hindquarters of good width. He moved well and free with plenty of confidence. BPIB.
Houndshow Champ 2007:First Puppy Dog Jill Peak critique:9 month old male. Nice type. Good head, long and narrow, good pigment, nice eye. Good neck. Nice bone and feet. Went well when settled.
Birmingham Champ Show 2007: 5th Puppy Dog & Junior Dog Reena Clark
Northern Saluki Club Champ show 2007:2nd Junior Dog Beryl Payne critique: an 11 month old cream who in the previous class did not settle in movement, but when moved again in this class he was settled and showed his paces, a dog with good head and skull, well developed body for age with good depth.
Midland Counties Champ show 2007:First Junior Dog Zola Rawson* critique: Golden dog full of quality, very mature for age, masculine head with good expression, straight front, good feet, deep brisket, good rise over the loin, excellent muscular quarters, moved very true. * winner of our 'the judge who made us happiest' competition 2007 * winner of our 'amazingly quick publication of lovely critique' competition 2007
LKA Champ 2007:2nd Junior Dog Nick Bryce-Smith critique: Lighter constructed than the winner, but again what an attractive and masculine head. Well laid shoulder and good depth but a little out at elbow. Well tucked up with pin bones correctly set. Not as powerful behind as winner and needs more precision on the move.
2008 Manchester 2008:First Junior Dog Shirley Rawlings critique: stood alone but a worthy winner and promising youngster. Masculine head with dark eye and strong bite. Good length of neck into well laid shoulder, plenty of depth of brisket. Good length of loin. Moved very well behind and in profile, just a little untidy in front but this should cure with maturity.
Matlock DCS Open 2008:1st Junior Dog Pip Buswell critique: Young gold dog with a masculine head. Would prefer a darker eye. Front assembly good. Pasterns correctly sloping. Good feet. Topline a bit flat over the loin. Well made back quarters of good length. He has a lot of maturing to do but has the time to do it.
Crufts 2008:4th Good Citizens Dog M Roberts
Northern Saluki Club Champ. show 2008:2nd Yearling, Graduate & Special Beg. Dog Clair Chryssolor critique: Similar in type to one with good return of upper arm and shoulder set. Compact dog with good brisket to loin. Good tail set. Well muscled.

Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club Open 2008:3rd Graduate Dog; First Spec. Beg. Dog Mark Cocozza critique: Attractive head and eye. Nice type and light movement. Nice overall outline , would just like a little more depth and width throughout.
Derbyshire Open 2008:1st Post-graduate, RBOB Linda Stewart
Bridgford DCS Open 2008:1st Post-graduate, RBOB Angela Dunkley critique: 20 months and a nicely balanced cream fawn. Liked his head and bright expression. Long supple neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Ample depth of brisket, back strong with a slight arch over the loin, hindquarters cleanly muscled. Moved lightly, showing a long level stride in front and positive drive from the rear. RBOB.
Houndshow Champ 2008:1st Yearling & Spec. Beg. dog; 3rd Grad dog Jenny Macro critique: A well made young cream who seems to enjoy his time in the ring, but would perhaps benefit from some ringcraft training (that's a year of ringcraft training maligned. ed). Good head and expression, long neck, lovely forehand. Correct topline and sound movement. Quite fond of his tail, though not to detriment. Lost out in later classes on his immaturity but given time could do very well.
Bakewell Open 2008:2nd Post-graduate; 1st Open; RBOB Editha Newton critique: Was the best of the three for movement to and fro. Liked his body shape when stood. RBOB
South Eastern Hound Club Open 2008:3rd Graduate Ronald W James 1st Caroline Dowsett Memorial StakesSusan Rhodes* AV Hound Racing/Coursing critique: AV Hound Racing/Coursing: (35/18) What a pleasure this was, many thanks to all the exhibitors. First Owen's Altaya Sandpiper (d) saluki 22 months, a real pleasure, balanced and graceful, elegant head with moderate width of skull, strong jaws with good bite, sloping shoulders set back, body strong with good loin. No exaggeration but strong muscled rear construction with moderate bend of stifle. However in this strong class he won on the move - effortless, unhurried but ground covering. Lifting just enough to clear the wet grass. Tail carried well. Should be an accomplished courser. * winner of our 'the judge who made us happiest' competition 2008 * winner of our 'amazing joy-inspiring critique' competition 2008
Edwinstowe DCS Open 2008: 1st Post Grad; 2nd Open Sharon Oakey
